Overview

What Microsoft 365 Does and Why Connect It

Microsoft 365 is the productivity suite for organisations on Outlook, Exchange and Azure identity.

Odoo includes native support for the core Microsoft 365 pieces, so much of this integration is configuration. It lets Odoo sit alongside Outlook and Microsoft identity without a duplicate calendar or a separate login.

Data Flow

What Data Moves Between Microsoft 365 and Odoo

The integration uses Microsoft APIs through an Azure application registration.

  • Calendar: Odoo calendar and Outlook calendar kept in two-way sync.
  • Email: outgoing and incoming mail through the user's Microsoft account.
  • Sign-in: users authenticate to Odoo with their Microsoft 365 account.
What Goes Wrong

Common Pitfalls

  • Azure app registration. An app registration with the right Graph permissions and redirect URLs is required.
  • Admin consent. Some permissions need a tenant administrator to grant consent.
  • Calendar conflicts. Two-way sync needs clear precedence rules.
  • Conditional access. Tenant security policies can block the app until allowed.
  • Token refresh. Tokens expire and must be refreshed.
Setup

How the Integration Is Set Up

  1. Create an Azure app registration with the required Graph permissions.
  2. Set redirect URLs and obtain client credentials.
  3. Enable Outlook calendar sync, email and Microsoft sign-in in Odoo.
  4. Obtain tenant admin consent where needed.
  5. Test with a pilot user.
  6. Roll out and monitor token refresh.
