Dropbox is a file storage and sharing service many teams already use for documents.
Odoo does not ship a native Dropbox module, so the integration is a custom or third-party build. It is most useful when a business wants Odoo record attachments to live in, or be mirrored to, an organised Dropbox folder structure that other teams can reach.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between Dropbox and Odoo
The integration uses the Dropbox API.
Odoo to Dropbox: attachments and generated documents pushed to mapped folders.
Dropbox to Odoo: file links referenced from the related records.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
No native module. Plan for a custom build and its maintenance.
Folder structure. A clear mapping from Odoo records to Dropbox folders is needed, or files become hard to find.
Permissions. Dropbox sharing must be handled so files are neither too open nor inaccessible.
Large files. Big files affect sync timing and storage cost.
Token refresh. Dropbox access tokens must be refreshed.
