Slack is where many teams already work. Important business events often sit unnoticed in Odoo because nobody is watching the right screen at the right moment.
Odoo does not ship a native Slack module, so a Slack integration is a custom or third-party build. It pushes selected Odoo events into the right Slack channels, so a new high-value lead, a large order or an escalated ticket is seen the moment it happens.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between Slack and Odoo
The integration uses Slack incoming webhooks or the Slack API.
Odoo to Slack: formatted notifications for chosen events, posted to specific channels.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
No native module. Plan for a custom build and its maintenance.
Notification noise. Pushing too many events trains people to ignore the channel. Choose events that genuinely need attention.
Channel routing. Different events should go to different channels, not all into one.
Sensitive data. Decide what business detail is appropriate to post in Slack.
One-way by default. Acting on an event from Slack back into Odoo is a larger build than simple notifications.
