SendGrid is an email delivery service. It does not run campaigns the way a marketing tool does. Its job is to get email delivered reliably and to report what happened to each message.
Integrating SendGrid with Odoo improves the deliverability of everything Odoo sends, from invoices and order confirmations to marketing emails, and brings delivery events back so bounces are visible.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between SendGrid and Odoo
The integration uses SendGrid for outbound mail and its event webhook for results.
Odoo to SendGrid: outgoing email, sent through SendGrid as the mail server or through its API.
SendGrid to Odoo: delivery, bounce, spam and open events through the event webhook.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
Domain authentication. SPF, DKIM and DMARC must be set up on the sending domain or mail lands in spam.
Bounce handling. Bounce events must reach Odoo so bad addresses are flagged.
Shared versus dedicated IP. Sending reputation depends on the IP setup chosen.
Rate and volume. Sudden volume spikes can hurt deliverability without IP warm-up.
Transactional versus marketing. Mixing the two on one stream can harm the reputation of both.
