Overview

What Google Ads Does and Why Connect It

Google Ads optimises bidding against conversions. If the only conversion it sees is a form submission, it optimises for form fills, not for revenue.

Integrating Google Ads with Odoo closes that loop. Leads carry their Google Ads click identifier into Odoo, and when a lead becomes a won deal or an order, that outcome is sent back to Google Ads as an offline conversion, so bidding learns from real results.

Data Flow

What Data Moves Between Google Ads and Odoo

The integration uses the Google Ads API.

  • Google Ads to Odoo: the click identifier captured on landing pages and stored against the lead.
  • Odoo to Google Ads: offline conversions when a lead progresses to a qualified opportunity, a won deal or an order, with the conversion value.
What Goes Wrong

Common Pitfalls

  • Click identifier capture. The Google click identifier must be captured at the landing page and stored, or conversions cannot be attributed.
  • Conversion windows. Offline conversions must be uploaded within Google's accepted time window.
  • Definition of a conversion. Decide which Odoo stage counts as a conversion before building.
  • Value accuracy. Sending order value, not a flat figure, is what improves bidding.
  • Consent. Conversion data handling must respect consent rules.
Setup

How the Integration Is Set Up

  1. Obtain Google Ads API access and a developer token.
  2. Capture the click identifier on landing pages into the Odoo lead.
  3. Define which Odoo stages count as conversions and their values.
  4. Build the offline conversion upload.
  5. Verify conversions appear in Google Ads.
  6. Schedule the upload within the conversion window.
