Google Sheets is where many teams build shared reports and quick analyses. People will keep using it, so the practical goal is to feed it current Odoo data instead of pasting exports.
Odoo does not ship a native Google Sheets connector, so the integration is a custom or third-party build. It refreshes chosen Odoo datasets into Sheets on a schedule, so a shared report is never more than a cycle out of date.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between Google Sheets and Odoo
The integration uses Odoo's external API and the Google Sheets API.
Odoo to Google Sheets: selected datasets written to specific sheets and ranges, refreshed on a schedule.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
No native module. Plan for a custom build and its maintenance.
Sheets as a report, not a source. Sheets should be a read view of Odoo data, not a place data is edited and lost.
Volume limits. Google Sheets has cell and size limits, so large datasets need summarising.
OAuth setup. A Google Cloud project with Sheets API access is required.
Range management. Refreshes must not overwrite formulas or formatting users added.
Setup
How the Integration Is Set Up
Choose the integration approach and confirm maintenance ownership.
Create a Google Cloud project with Sheets API access.
Define the datasets and the target sheets and ranges.
Build and test the refresh, protecting user formulas.
