ShipStation is a multi-carrier shipping platform that consolidates carriers, rate shopping and label printing in one place. It is popular with high-volume parcel shippers.
Odoo does not ship a native ShipStation connector, so the integration is a third-party app or a custom build. The goal is to send orders to ShipStation for fulfilment and bring shipment and tracking data back into Odoo.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between ShipStation and Odoo
The integration uses the ShipStation API.
Odoo to ShipStation: orders ready to ship, with addresses and line items.
ShipStation to Odoo: shipment confirmation, the carrier and service used, cost and tracking number.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
No native module. Plan for a third-party app or a custom build and its maintenance.
Order ownership. Decide whether Odoo or ShipStation is the source of truth for order status.
Warehouse mapping. ShipStation ship-from locations must map to Odoo warehouses.
Duplicate orders. A clear order key prevents the same order being sent twice.
Sync timing. Tracking must return promptly so customers are notified.
