NetSuite is a cloud ERP. As with SAP, NetSuite and Odoo are both full ERPs, so an integration between them is a two-tier model or a transition arrangement, not a feature add-on.
A common case is a group on NetSuite that wants a new entity or region on Odoo, or a business moving between the two that needs both aligned during the change. The integration keeps the agreed data consistent across the two systems.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between NetSuite and Odoo
The integration uses NetSuite's SuiteTalk web services and its REST API.
NetSuite to Odoo: master data such as accounts, subsidiaries, items and customers.
Odoo to NetSuite: financial postings and the transaction data the group requires.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
Master data ownership. Decide which system owns each master record, and have Odoo accept group data.
Subsidiary model. NetSuite's subsidiary and accounting structure must map cleanly to Odoo companies.
Posting granularity. Detailed versus summarised posting must be agreed.
Governance limits. NetSuite enforces API governance limits that batch jobs must respect.
Reconciliation. Two ERPs need a defined reconciliation cycle.
Setup
How the Integration Is Set Up
Agree the design: two-tier operation or a transition arrangement.
Define master data ownership and the subsidiary mapping.
Set up SuiteTalk or REST access within governance limits.
Decide posting granularity.
Build and test the interfaces.
Run a parallel period and reconcile before going live.
