DocuSign is a widely used electronic signature service. Odoo also has its own Sign app in the Enterprise edition, so the first question is whether DocuSign is needed at all.
The integration is for organisations committed to DocuSign, often because legal, compliance or customers require it. It lets Odoo send documents such as quotations and contracts into DocuSign for signature and brings the signed result and its status back.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between DocuSign and Odoo
The integration uses the DocuSign eSignature API and its webhooks.
Odoo to DocuSign: a document and its signers sent as an envelope when triggered from an Odoo record.
DocuSign to Odoo: envelope status, completion and the signed document, recorded against the originating record.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
Consider native Sign first. Odoo Enterprise includes Sign, which may remove the need for DocuSign and its separate cost.
Envelope mapping. Signer roles, fields and tabs must map correctly to the document.
Status webhooks. DocuSign Connect webhooks must be configured so Odoo learns when a document is signed.
Authentication. DocuSign API access uses an app with tokens that must be managed.
Document storage. The completed document should be filed against the right Odoo record.
Setup
How the Integration Is Set Up
Confirm DocuSign is required rather than Odoo's native Sign.
Create a DocuSign API integration and obtain credentials.
Map document templates, signer roles and fields.
Configure DocuSign Connect webhooks into Odoo.
Test the send, sign and return flow.
Confirm signed documents are stored against records, then go live.
