Jira is the issue tracker of choice for many engineering teams. Odoo has its own Project app, and the two often coexist: delivery, billing and resourcing run in Odoo, while engineering works in Jira.
The integration keeps the two views of the same work consistent, so a task in Odoo and its issue in Jira do not drift apart and progress is visible on both sides.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between Jira and Odoo
The integration uses the Jira REST API.
Odoo to Jira: tasks created as issues, with scope and priority.
Jira to Odoo: issue status, progress and optionally worklogs that feed Odoo timesheets.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
No native module. Plan for a third-party app or a custom build and its maintenance.
Status mapping. Jira workflow statuses and Odoo task stages rarely match one to one and need a deliberate map.
Project mapping. Jira projects must map to Odoo projects.
Worklog handling. If Jira worklogs feed Odoo timesheets, the mapping must be precise for billing.
Custom fields. Jira custom fields used in the flow must be mapped.
