Odoo Asana Integration

Keep Odoo project tasks and Asana tasks in sync so teams work where they prefer without drift.

Sync Direction Two-way sync
Sync Mode Scheduled / batch
Odoo Modules Project, Timesheets
Overview

What Asana Does and Why Connect It

Asana is a work management tool that teams favour for planning and day-to-day task tracking. Odoo has its own Project app, used for delivery, timesheets and billing.

When a team works in Asana but the business runs delivery and billing in Odoo, the integration keeps the same work consistent in both, so neither view goes stale.

Data Flow

What Data Moves Between Asana and Odoo

The integration uses the Asana API.

  • Odoo to Asana: tasks and their scope.
  • Asana to Odoo: task status, completion and assignee changes.
What Goes Wrong

Common Pitfalls

  • No native module. Plan for a third-party app or a custom build and its maintenance.
  • Project mapping. Asana projects must map to Odoo projects.
  • Status model. Asana sections and Odoo stages differ and need a deliberate map.
  • User matching. Assignees must match across systems.
  • Loop prevention. A two-way sync must not echo its own updates back and forth.
Setup

How the Integration Is Set Up

  1. Choose the integration approach and confirm maintenance ownership.
  2. Obtain Asana API access.
  3. Map projects, sections and users.
  4. Build the task sync with loop prevention.
  5. Test status changes both ways.
  6. Schedule the sync.
