Salesforce is a CRM platform used by many sales organisations. Odoo also has its own CRM, so the integration is not about replacing the sales tool but about connecting it to the back office.
The common pattern is that the sales team stays in Salesforce while Odoo runs quotation-to-cash, inventory and finance. When a deal is won in Salesforce, it should become a real order in Odoo without anyone re-keying it.
Data Flow
What Data Moves Between Salesforce and Odoo
The integration uses the Salesforce REST and Bulk APIs.
Salesforce to Odoo: accounts and contacts, and won opportunities that become Odoo customers and sale orders.
Odoo to Salesforce: order status, fulfilment and invoicing status, so sales can see what happened after the win.
What Goes Wrong
Common Pitfalls
Object mapping. Salesforce accounts, contacts and opportunities must map deliberately to Odoo partners and sale orders.
Product catalogue. Opportunity line items must match Odoo products by a shared key, or order lines will not map.
Duplicate accounts. Without a matching rule, the same customer is created twice.
API limits. Salesforce enforces API call limits that bulk syncs must respect.
Sandbox versus production. The two Salesforce environments must not be mixed.
Setup
How the Integration Is Set Up
Create a Salesforce connected app and obtain API access.
Map accounts, contacts, opportunities and products to Odoo records.
Define the trigger: which deal stage creates an Odoo order.
Run an initial sync of accounts and contacts.
Test the won-deal to sale-order flow.
Wire status updates back to Salesforce and schedule the sync.
